This is the first line of my all-time favorite series, The Dark Tower by Stephen King. Now when you think of King’s work you most likely went into the vision of the horror genre. This series is one that I can’t explain what category it belongs to because it has just about everything you can think of; Western, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance (yes there’s a lot of lovin’ in the books) and of course there is a bit of horror thrown in as well. There is something for everyone in this series.
Well, last year they announced that J.J. Abrams will be directing the films of this series with Mr. King helping write and produce it. Which made me giddy is so many ways! I love the fact that this is coming to the big screen and I can honestly say, if done correctly, it’ll be one of the greatest film series of all time. Plus, to have Stephen King help with the writing of the films, I know that the script will follow the original storyline.
Rumor has it that audition will be taking place soon, so, being that it’s slow right now at work, I’ve decided to put together who I would like to see cast in the upcoming films. I personally would like to see a bunch of unknown actors, but here are my celebrity choices.

Hax was black...
I agree with most of these! But I think Angela Basset is too old for Detta/Odetta/Susannah. Just my opinion!
Good list, however a few suggestions. I think Walter and Flag are supposed to be the same guy. Maybe Tim Curry should come back as Dandelo/Collins since you're using the same guy that played Flag in the "Stand" TV miniseries. And most of all Cuthbert has to be someone awesome, not some no name, not very good-looking dude. And for the love of god, get rid of that little Sopranos queer as young Roland. Jesus, think young "James Dean", not Jerry Lewis! But like I said you list is otherwise quite interesting. Oh and by the way, JJ Abrams annouced that he will not be doing any Dark Tower series afterall, so I looks like us DT geeks will just have to wait another 10 or 20 years for someone with big enough balls to translate King's masterpiece into film.
I really like your list, I'm currently commuting to audiobooks of this masterpiece series and was thinking if ever they tried to make a movie, who would play Roland? I must say, not a bad choice for him at all. Sadly, Greg Geraldo won't ever be in anything again. :(
I have to say I really like your list. I would move up Shia LaBeouf to play Eddie though. He would bring the perfect amount of humor to the part that it needs. I also have a hard time picturing John O'Hurley as Jonas. I was thinking more along the lines of a Jeff Bridges, there.
