TMNT Micro-Series: Splinter

WARNING:  CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS
(but don’t let that get in the way of reading this comic)

My first comic book review for a long time for this blog, but it’s one that I want many to read.  This is probably the best single issue I’ve read this year; it even brought some tears to my eyes.

When you think of a love story, you probably aren’t thinking of a mutant rat with turtles for sons, but this is a love story that has something for everyone.  This is a story of Splinter once known as Hamato Yoshi.  In a previous life Yoshi had a troubled heart, with acts of rage of violence only to be seen.  Changed by a woman, Tang Shen, who could see he was so much more he took a different way of life and thinking.  Yoshi then changed his ways to fit the life of peace, only to be destroyed one day by Oroku Saki, (later is known as Shredder), who took everything Yoshi loved.  Back in the present day Splinter comes face to face with his mortal enemy; what choice will he make for honor, for love and for his family?

Each panel in this comic is remarkable, either by the words, the lessons learned or the emotions the graphics turn out.  You take a journey of person's life, in some of their most intimate moments and you can't help be feel as if you personally know them and want to see them have nothing but the happiest outcome.  Filled with so many emotions, take 15 minutes out of your day and read this!
